the thin whistle
of mum’s breakfast kettle
. . . bare toes on lino
school milk
striped paper straws
pleated into submission
half-yearly report
my frosty teacher
thaws
red cheeks
stung by sun and wind
our long walk home
shortest day
dad’s chaffed hands
light the gas fire

Hi Julie,
I just read Milking Time in the on-line children’s poetry blog, and liked it very much. Have now read some of your poems on this site, and like them, too. You write really well.
Thank you Bill 🙂 so kind of you so make such an encouraging comment!
